Puerto Vallarta, February 2018

This year our trip was planned for February 3rd to February 20th.  We stayed at the Sheraton Buganvilias from the 3rd to the 17th, then moved over to the hotel for the last few days.

We have been so many times, we love getting away at this time of year when the weather is cruddy back home,  but this time the weather was not quite as nice as we hoped.  It was cloudy and even a little misty at times, although warm.

We didn't really even do anything special.  I spent most days at the pool for several hours, relaxing, reading and catching up on emails.  Doug walked to town several times but he felt a little like he was coming down with something so didn't do much.  In the evenings we either walked to dinner or took a taxi, then most evenings taxied back.

We went to some of our usual favorite restaurants and only tried a few new ones.  We tried Carlos and Charles at La Isle.  I thought it was good but Doug didn't like the setting being at a shopping mall.  We sat outside and we were near a fountain and there was live entertainment.  We both thought the food was good.  It was a new restaurant for the area, we had gone to one in Mazatlan years before.

New for us also was PV Chan's at the Marina.  We had great Thai food and both decided we would go back.
We also went to Senior Frogs, Cheeky Monkey, Margaritagrille, La Dolce Vita, Joe Jacks, La Cervaceria, Barracuda, and Rico Mac Taco, all of which we had been before.
While we were there we heard about Coffee Fest which actually turned out to be a fun event to watch.  The idea was to beat the Guinness World Record for the most coffee drinkers at one time in one place.  It was fun to watch them beat that record.

In years past I have always been melancholy about leaving to come home.  I believe it is mostly because I knew that meant back to work shortly after.  This time was different since I retired last September.  It really did change the way I felt about leaving, or maybe it was a combination of the weather, the fact Doug wasn't feeling well, and that we added a few extra days.

Books, this time I read A House in the SkyThe Kitchen House and Cycle of Lies, all I thoroughly enjoyed.
